Microsoft Teams is the communication hub for millions of enterprise teams. Routing iPhone SMS into Teams keeps your team in sync without switching between apps. Here’s how to set it up.
What You’ll Need
- iPhone running iOS 16 or later
- Fwrdly installed
- Microsoft Teams account with permission to add connectors to a channel
Step 1: Create an Incoming Webhook in Microsoft Teams
Note: Microsoft is migrating from “Connectors” to Power Automate workflows. Both methods work with Fwrdly. The webhook method below is the quickest.
Using Power Automate (Recommended)
- Go to make.powerautomate.com
- Create a new flow: “When an HTTP request is received” trigger
- Add an action: “Post a message in a chat or channel” → select your Teams channel
- Copy the HTTP POST URL generated by Power Automate
Using Legacy Connectors (if available in your tenant)
- In Teams, go to the channel you want to post to
- Click ”…” (More options) → “Connectors”
- Find “Incoming Webhook” and click “Configure”
- Give it a name (e.g.
Fwrdly SMS) and click “Create” - Copy the Webhook URL
Step 2: Add Teams as a Destination in Fwrdly
- Open Fwrdly on your iPhone
- Tap “Add destination”
- Select Microsoft Teams
- Paste the Webhook URL from Step 1
- Tap Save
Step 3: Enable and Test
Toggle forwarding ON in Fwrdly. Send a test SMS — it should appear in your Teams channel within seconds.
Enterprise Use Cases
Customer-facing SMS number
Forward all texts from your company’s SMS number to a General channel so the whole team can see and respond to customer inquiries.
IT alerts and MFA codes
Forward SMS-based MFA codes and infrastructure alerts to the #it-ops channel for the on-call team.
Vendor and supplier coordination Route texts from logistics partners and suppliers to a dedicated Teams channel, keeping all vendor communication in one searchable place.
Field team updates Field technicians often communicate via SMS. Forwarding their messages to Teams keeps office staff and managers up to date in real time.
Filtering for Enterprise Scenarios
Use Fwrdly’s sender-based filtering to forward only messages from specific numbers — your suppliers, a monitoring service, or a specific client — while keeping personal texts private.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an admin to set this up? For the Power Automate method, any Teams member can set up a flow. For legacy Connectors, you may need the channel owner or a Teams admin to enable them.
Does this work with Teams on the free plan? Yes. Incoming webhooks are available on all Microsoft Teams plans, including the free tier.
Can I format the messages with Teams Adaptive Cards? Standard Fwrdly delivery posts plain text messages. Adaptive Card formatting is planned for a future Pro feature.
What happens if the Teams webhook URL expires? Power Automate flow URLs don’t expire. Legacy Connector URLs can be regenerated in Teams if needed — just update the URL in Fwrdly.
Is this GDPR compliant? Fwrdly processes messages on-device and sends them directly to Microsoft’s servers. Your organization’s Teams data governance policies apply to messages once they’re in Teams.
